have sotomayor, straub, parker and katzmann hired yet?
I know Straub is done (as noted above) and that Cabranes is done. I believe Raggi is interviewing at least grads because I got a call aroudn 7/15 (though I had by then already accepted)
Katzmann always hires 2 years out b/c he requires clerks to serve a year in a district court first. (He will help set them up though, if necessary).
Cabranes hired 2 for this year in last year's hiring cycle. He had one spot open as of a few weeks ago, but it could be filled by now.
Pretty sure Parker is full. (He hires for slightly irregular terms though, so it is possible that he is interviewing for a 1.5 or 2 year position starting a year or so down the road).
Re: Wesley: While his clerks did call some applicants, there are applicants who were not called who will receive interviews and not all applicants called will receive interviews.
Wesley is def done calling. (As, lets be honest, are all 2nd Cir. judges by now). Interviews to a bunch of different schools. Is there are a particular school you're wondering about?
When did Hall hire the HLS 3L? Did he call or give the offer on the spot? Has anyone else been called? I assume judges contact their choices all at once, correct? In that case, if you have not heard from Hall, it means you have not been picked, correct?
I don't think judges necessarily contact all of their choices at once. I don't know the particular situation with Judge Hall, but I know of another judge who hired some clerks on the first day and kept one spot open until finishing interviews on the 2nd day.
Hall indicated he would consider candidates for 09-10. Hall only had 2 spots open for next year, because he had hired two already (during the previous year). I do not know if Hall has given offers for 09-10 yet. Would greatly appreciate information about that.
Another round of applications? Ummmm.... no. Let's face it. ALL of the Second Circuit judges interviewed for next year, AND the year after. All or almost all, anyway. Straub has hired for 3 years out. Already. I suppose people could send stuff, but it's probably already done. Finished. The results just haven't shown up here.
I interviewed with Hall and received only a generic email via OSCAR, seemingly sent to all applicants, indicating that the 08-09 slots had been filled.

straub and katzmann are done.
Parker has hired at least three, and I think four.
I believe Katzmann is accepting applications and interviewing.
Jacobs is actively screening (law school grad) applications for 2008-09. He has already hired two and will hire one -- and may hire two -- more.

Raggi's interviewing grads.
Anything on Hall?
So Straub is confirmed to be done, but Katzmann might still be hiring?
To the poster who had secured a clerkship before 7/15, are you willing to disclose your stats? Just curious.
according to my law school's career center, kaztmann is hiring for '09; done for '08.
My understanding was that Cabranes wasn't "done" so much as just not hiring. Is this true? Just curious.
Cabranes did hire for 08-09, but he finished a while ago, if that clarifies.
No news on Hall?
what about livingston?
livingston has hired at least one
sotomayor has hired at least one

Newman is interviewing.
leval has hired a harvard person and a yale person for 2008
Does anyone know which schools Jacobs has hired from?
Any news on Winter?
Walker is interviewing
Jacobs hired a Texas grad. Don't know about the others.
leval is done. he hired from yale, harvard, and stanford.
I hope to have an even higher reporting rate of which judges hired from which schools. Please let me know!
Pooler finished for 08-09, but is considering applicants for 3 open spots for 09-10.
Hall is scheduling interviews
Wesley has 2 spots left - is screening now.
wesley is hiring for both 08-09 and 09-10
Wesley's law clerks called his pre-screened applicants on Friday, he will call for interviews on Tuesday.
Re: Wesley: While his clerks did call some applicants, there are applicants who were not called who will receive interviews and not all applicants called will receive interviews.
Uhm, why are you leaving moderation on? Calls are coming now, so info needs to be posted fast.
Sotomayor and Sack have started calling.
Anyone heard from Wesley yet, or know when he's supposed to call?
Wesley is done, as far as I know.
If you don't get called today, is that it?
Anyone heard from Jacobs?
Does anyone know whether these interviews are for 08-09 or 09-10?
any word on Calabresi?
Calabresi made at least some calls yesterday. He's interviewing at least one Texas Law 3L.
Does anyone know if Wesley is done calling? If so, what schools got interviews?
Katzmann called people yesterday to schedule interviews for 2009-2010 term clerkships.
Sack, Livingston, Walker and Kearse called yesterday.
Hall called today
Parker violated the rules by hiring one 3L for '08-'09 and one 3L for '09-10 before the September 19 interview/hiring date. Stanford and Yale 3Ls.
I just checked this blog for the first time in a while. I posted 8/2/07 10:10 am.
As for Stats, HLS '07, cum laude, non-LR, solid recs.
Wesley is def done calling. (As, lets be honest, are all 2nd Cir. judges by now). Interviews to a bunch of different schools. Is there are a particular school you're wondering about?
Any word on Pooler for 09-10?
Who else is hiring for 09-10 right now? Have they set up interviews already?
Is Hall done? Someone mentioned earlier that he had called.
Hall has been interviewing, but don't know how many or if he has made any hires
Hall hired an HLS 3L. He will be hiring for 09-10 soon and/or at the same time as he's hiring for 08-09.
When did Hall hire the HLS 3L? Did he call or give the offer on the spot? Has anyone else been called? I assume judges contact their choices all at once, correct? In that case, if you have not heard from Hall, it means you have not been picked, correct?
Straub has even hired for 2010-11!!! (A 2007 Columbia Law grad.) Wow. Judges sure are filling up their clerkship slots far well in advance...
I don't think judges necessarily contact all of their choices at once. I don't know the particular situation with Judge Hall, but I know of another judge who hired some clerks on the first day and kept one spot open until finishing interviews on the 2nd day.
3:57 - I'm in the same boat as you, guess we have to keep waiting until something more definitive surfaces.
Does anybody know the status of Jacobs, Kearse, Livingston, McLaughlin, Raggi, Sack, and Sotomayor? Thank you!
livingston has hired at least one.
Jacobs is already done. Livingston and Kearse have hired two each, at least. Raggi and Sack have hired at least one each.
A comment on the LawClerkAddict blog, for what its worth, says Hall hired another from Cornell.
If anyone knows, was it a 3L from Cornell? For 2008-09 or 2009-10?
Hall only had 2 spots left for 2008-09....
Any gaps you can fill in would be much appreciated!
Winter hired a 3L from Brooklyn Law School for 2007-08
you mean 2008-2009?
Yes sorry, forgot what year it was
Ok guys.... more judges have to have hired by now... who's holding out on us? let's have the scoop(s), it doesn't hurt...
so has Hall only hired for 2008-09 and not 2009-10 yet?
Walker hired one from Penn.
Anyone have any information on Jacobs's hires?
Walker hired Penn and NYU, in addition to the YLS grad already on board. He also hired two for 09-10.
Katzmann will be taking three from Rakoff's chambers for 09-10 -- YLS, NYU, and Fordham.
Is Hall hiring for 09-10 now or is that just a rumor?
Hall indicated he would consider candidates for 09-10. Hall only had 2 spots open for next year, because he had hired two already (during the previous year). I do not know if Hall has given offers for 09-10 yet. Would greatly appreciate information about that.
Does anyone know whether Hall has notified any interviewees that they have been rejected?
2:28 - Is Hall considering candidates who have already applied, or will there be another round of applications sent to his chambers?
Another round of applications? Ummmm.... no. Let's face it. ALL of the Second Circuit judges interviewed for next year, AND the year after. All or almost all, anyway. Straub has hired for 3 years out. Already. I suppose people could send stuff, but it's probably already done. Finished. The results just haven't shown up here.
Let's be real people. There is no "other round of applications" other than next year. Looks like we've missed the boat.
Has anyone who interviewed with Hall received a rejection letter?
I interviewed with Hall and received only a generic email via OSCAR, seemingly sent to all applicants, indicating that the 08-09 slots had been filled.
I also interviewed with Hall and did not receive a rejection letter.
Any information on the 2009-2010 clerks would be greatly appreciated!
