Duncan hired a Texas law grad.

Williams is finished hiring. Just got the rejection letter that said as much.

Judge King is interviewing.

Any news on Motz?

Anonymous said...

Motz generally adheres to the plan for LS students, but may grads early.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the info!

Anonymous said...

Motz has hired one Michigan grad.

Is King still scheduling interviews or has he called all the people he plans to call?

Anonymous said...

I know that King has hired one and has two additional spots open. He has called and interviewed at least one more, but has not yet extended an offer. I believe he is still calling and hiring, but I cannot confirm.

Niemeyer is interviewing 3Ls

Anonymous said...

Does Niemeyer not adhere to the Plan for 3Ls?

Anonymous said...

Neimeyer is willing to interview somewhat early; last year he interviewed a 3L from Notre Dame early and that student got a clerkship.

Anonymous said...

Any word on Wilkinson?

Anonymous said...

Re Niemeyer:

1. While he tries to adhere to the Plan for 3Ls, he is conscious of other judges who do not, and will interview early to avoid losing attractive candidates to those other judges.

2. Last year, he scheduled at least five interviews ahead of the Plan, but I do not know for certain whether all five were 3Ls as opposed to grads.

3. At least two of the three clerks starting for Niemeyer this fall interviewed early (ahead of Plan) and accepted early. I don't know the timing on the third.

"Duncan has hired two."
Is she not following the plan, or are those graduate hires?

Anonymous said...

Shedd sent out a writing asignment to some candidates. Anyone know if he has conducted any interviews?

Anonymous said...

Judge Wilkinson has hired one recent Stanford graduate.

Anonymous said...

Does Wilkinson follow the plan for 3Ls?

Anonymous said...

Wilkinson interviewed at least three 3Ls before the deadline last year, so he does not adhere to the plan.

Anonymous said...

what schools did Williams hire from?

Anonymous said...

clarification: Wilkinson waits until the date for filing 3L applications to start interviewing (i.e., he does not interview 3L's before that first date, which this year, is Sept. 4).

Anonymous said...

Shedd's hired one from W&M Law

Anonymous said...

Duncan has made two graduate hires. She is following the plan.

Anonymous said...

King is done.

Anonymous said...

Wilkinson has started interviewing 3Ls.

Anonymous said...

is Wilkinson interviewing now, or just calling? is he interviewing over the phone or in person? thanks.

Anonymous said...

Wilkinson has begun interviewing 3Ls (in person) and making offers.

Anonymous said...

And at least one of Wilkinson's offers has been accepted, by a UVA 3L.

Anonymous said...

Wilkinson has completed hiring.

Anonymous said...

Niemeyer hired a Northwestern 3L today.

Anonymous said...

Motz and Michael are calling for interviews.

Anonymous said...

Niemeyer hired a Duke 3L as well.

Anonymous said...

Wilkinson's done: HLS, YLS, UVA, Stanford.

Anonymous said...

Are Motz and Michael calling 3Ls?

Anonymous said...

Michael is calling? I thought he strictly adhered to the hiring plan.

Anonymous said...

Michael hired a Virginia 3L.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Motz and Michael are calling and interviewing (and at least in Michael's case, offering) 3Ls.

Anonymous said...

Motz is interviewing today and making offers tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

According to OSCAR, Michael is now filled.

Anonymous said...

Michael is done.

Anonymous said...

on FLCIS Michael listed that his slot(s?) for 2008-09 are filled.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Michael is done, per FLCIS

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Niemeyer hired from Yale to go along with his Duke and Northwestern picks.

Yes, Wilkinson hired four. He switched to the 1/4 model effective this fall.

Anonymous said...

Motz hired a UVA 3L

Anonymous said...

Does someone have the complete list of what schools Motz and Niemeyer hired from?

Anonymous said...

Has anyone heard anything about Judge Gregory's interviewing? His FLCIS listing doesn't appear updated, and I've heard nothing about people getting interviews.

Anonymous said...

Judge Gregory is interviewing a 3L from Texas.

Law Clerk Addict said...

You can see the running total of 4th Circuit hires here.

Anonymous said...

Gregory called on Tuesday

Anonymous said...

According to a letter from King, he's done hiring (at least grads) for 2008-09. Law Firm Addict, you should update the running total if you get a chance.

Anonymous said...

Judge King hired one from the University of RIchmond.

Anonymous said...

King also hired a Duke 3L.

Anonymous said...

Has anyone heard from Duncan?

Anonymous said...

I think Duncan is finished hiring.

Anonymous said...

Final word on Motz?

Anonymous said...

I believe Motz didn't adhere to the plan.

Anonymous said...

H. Emory Widener passed away yesterday according to How Appealing.

Anonymous said...

Judge Shedd hired a Catholic University law school alum.

Anonymous said...

I believe Duncan and Motz each took one 3L from NYU and that both are done.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if Judge Gregory has hired, or from where?

Anonymous said...

Judge Gregory has hired at least one: a Yale 3L.

Anonymous said...

Am I correct that all 2008-2009 Fourth Circuit clerkships have now been filled?

Anonymous said...

While I don't have a definitive answer, I believe they have all been filled.
