I know that King has hired one and has two additional spots open. He has called and interviewed at least one more, but has not yet extended an offer. I believe he is still calling and hiring, but I cannot confirm.
1. While he tries to adhere to the Plan for 3Ls, he is conscious of other judges who do not, and will interview early to avoid losing attractive candidates to those other judges.
2. Last year, he scheduled at least five interviews ahead of the Plan, but I do not know for certain whether all five were 3Ls as opposed to grads.
3. At least two of the three clerks starting for Niemeyer this fall interviewed early (ahead of Plan) and accepted early. I don't know the timing on the third.
clarification: Wilkinson waits until the date for filing 3L applications to start interviewing (i.e., he does not interview 3L's before that first date, which this year, is Sept. 4).
Has anyone heard anything about Judge Gregory's interviewing? His FLCIS listing doesn't appear updated, and I've heard nothing about people getting interviews.
According to a letter from King, he's done hiring (at least grads) for 2008-09. Law Firm Addict, you should update the running total if you get a chance.
