Judge Lawson has emailed alums to set up interviews for the week of Sept. 4.
Judge Lawson may be "rigid" in the sense that he demands good work and attention to detail and doesn't play fast and loose with the law, but I don't see how those are bad qualities. If you want to maximize the learning experience that a district court clerkship can afford, Judge Lawson is a very good bet.
Based on my multiple interactions with Judge Lawson, I would agree that he is "rigid," but would disagree that this merely means that he demands good work. He is a no-nonsense guy, which is fine, but he takes it so far as to be harsh (even to people who aren't appearing before him, i.e., when he is not on the bench).
If the idea of a no-nonsense, efficient, detail-oriented and demanding (in a good way) judge appeals to you, I would go for someone like Judge Cleland, who is all of the above yet manages to still treat others well (i.e. with respect).
Snail mail from Duggan dated 9/4 indicating he may not be calling immediately (letter says selected interviewees will be notified by 9/30 to arrange interview).

Anybody know anything about Judge Lawson? What he's like to work for, etc.?
Lawson = rigid
Any chance you can be more specific? I assume that "rigid" = "bad".
