Judge Friedman has already hired (a graduate) for his one open slot in 2008.

Anonymous said...

My understanding is that Judge Collyer will only hire graduates, not 3Ls.

Anonymous said...

Judge Huvelle hired one clerk over the summer.

Anonymous said...

Bates is done

Anonymous said...

Judge Friedman is done until 2010.

"Judge Friedman is done until 2010."

This is not correct. According to his chambers, Judge Friedman is done for the term that starts in 2008, but will be accepting applications in 2008 for 2009.

Judge Robertson sent an email today:
". . . this e-mail is to advise that I will NOT be interviewing, at least not on the usual timetable, or indeed anytime soon. My clerkships remain open – I have simply decided to wait, perhaps even until next spring, before filling them . . . ."

Anonymous said...

Same e-mail from Robertson received. Translation: I don't like the current pool and intend to hire a graduate.

Anonymous said...

Robertson sent out the same email last year but nonetheless hired a 3L in September.

Anonymous said...

Then what is the point of Robertson's e-mail if he plans to neither adhere to the hiring plan or his own intentions as he himself described?

Anonymous said...

perhaps simply to deter phone calls to his chambers from overeager applicants

Kollar-Kottelly has already filled her slot

Anonymous said...

Judge Penn will not be taking any more clerks.

Anyone hear from DC judges?

Anonymous said...

Not yet...

Anonymous said...

Has anyone heard from DC district judges today? It's almost close of business on the East Coast, and I'm starting to freak out that I haven't gotten any calls.

Anonymous said...

I haven't gotten any either from DC, though I'm not super competitive (20%/T14)

Anonymous said...

Based on my experience last year, many DDC judges were in trial or otherwise unavailable during D-Day, so they weren't in any rush to make calls until later on when their schedules permitted.

Anonymous said...

So what DC judges are done or have called?

Anonymous said...

Anyone heard from Kessler or Collyer?

Anonymous said...

Judge Kessler scheduled some interviews

Anonymous said...

Judge Leon made calls early, interviewing for 2010

Anonymous said...

anyone heard from roberts or lamberth

Anonymous said...

Lamberth has called and scheduled interviews.

Anonymous said...

I heard that Kessler is horrible to work for...

Anonymous said...

9/12, 11:30: I had heard Lamberth had filled his term clerk position(s) about a month ago. Any word on whether he called for the career position, or for term clerks for future years?

Anonymous said...

Judge Sullivan had one slot and he filled it today

Anonymous said...

Judge Roberts has not begun reviewing applications, according to his chambers

Anonymous said...

Judge Kollar-Kotelly has filled her slot with a law school grad

Anonymous said...

Any word on Walton?

Anonymous said...

Kennedy or Collyer?

Anonymous said...

hmm...what have people heard about working for Kessler? This is not the first time that I've heard she's difficult, but I'm curious to know whether anyone has specifics?

Anonymous said...

Judge Lamberth is becoming Chief next year and thus has one extra spot to fill. Judge Leon also has a spot "come open" for Fall 08 and is interviewing for that as well as for spots in 2010.

Anonymous said...

Note, though, that Judge Leon won't hire a 3L except in extraordinary circumstances.

Anonymous said...

Walton has two year clerks at staggered terms - and will only hire with some experience, preferably, a state clerkship. Great to work for though! -- Former Walton intern.

Anonymous said...

What start date is Walton currently hiring for?

Anonymous said...

Any word on Roberts? I know chambers has taken "parlay" info. but don't know if they acted on it?

Anonymous said...

What exactly does "parlay" mean in this context?

Anonymous said...

Has anyone heard from Kennedy (DDC?). I haven't seen anything written about him yet...

Anonymous said...

Kennedy is currently interviewing, per a call to chambers last Friday.

Anonymous said...

kennedy is still interviewing; he only has one spot open, though

Anonymous said...

What is with Kessler's re-posting on FLCIS? Didn't she already begin interviewing?

Anonymous said...

maybe she didn't like the applicant pool? I dunno.....

Anonymous said...

which DC judges are still hiring?

Anonymous said...

Lambreth hired a Texas 3L for 08-09 and 09-10

Anonymous said...

Huvelle is done.

Anonymous said...

Please think twice about applying to Kessler. I have heard from at least 5-6 attorneys in DC who clerked in DDC that she is simply awful -- she fires a clerk almost every year, mostly without due cause. I don't think it's worth the stress.

Anonymous said...

Kennedy has filled his open slot; anyone hear anything about other DDC judges (Roberts and Robertson?)

Anonymous said...

Collyer is done.

Anonymous said...

What happened with Leon (thought he had an open slot for 2008)?

Anonymous said...

Judge Kessler has filled one of her spots and has one still open

Anonymous said...

Judge Kennedy hired a Georgetown grad. Any word on his other clerk?

Anonymous said...

Urbina has hired for 2008, but is scheduling interviews for 2009.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know why Judge Sullivan is hiring at this time of year?

Anonymous said...

Is Judge Sullivan interviewing? Does he have spots available?

Anonymous said...

I got an email from OSCAR saying that a one year clerkship w/ Judge Sullivan was available, Aug. '08 - Aug. '09. I think his other clerkships ran October to October. Just wondering why it opened up now.

Anonymous said...

Any word from Judge Robertson?

Anonymous said...

Has anyone that applied to Sullivan in the latest cycle gotten a response.
