All Oregon Supreme Court and Oregon Court of Appeals judges are done hiring -- have been for almost two months.

Yep. Oregon does their hiring abnormally early.

The 2008-2010 term clerkship applications were due in April 2007, and all the clerks were hired by the end of June, 2007.
The Oregon Supreme Court and Oregon Court of Appeals hire at the same time. If you are still interested in clerking... for the 2009-2011 term, perhaps, you should watch the job postings and the OJD website around February and be ready to apply by mid April.
This last year, candidates were notified of interviews with judges and justices in late April, and the interviews took place during two weeks in June.
Then, on June 25, the judges and justices all conduct a clerk draft, which is kind of like the football draft... they sit in a big room and decide who gets which clerks. The clerks are notified as soon as the draft is over.

I believe they use the same basic procedure and timeline each year.
